The "Not Arty" Club: Why You Don’t Need an A-Level in Art to Step Inside The Inglenook!
We’ve all been there. You see a beautiful piece of pottery or a creative workshop flyer and think, “That looks lovely, but I haven’t got a creative bone in my body.”
Maybe it was a teacher at school who told you your perspective was off, or perhaps you’ve spent years comparing your "stick figures" to the masterpieces on Pinterest.
If you’ve ever felt like the world of art wasn’t "for you," I have a secret to share: Whatever your skill level, The Inglenook Studio was built specifically for you.
Healing the "School Art Room" Scars
After 12 years in the pottery and craft industry, the most common phrase I hear isn't "I’m rubbish at anything arty or crafty."
It breaks my heart a little every time! Most people carry a "creative scar" from their school days. But here’s the thing: art in school is often about achievements, grades and following rules. Art at an indie studio like The Inglenook is about connection, memory-making, and a bit of "me-time." (And as aside, I'm quite rubbish myself, when it comes to 'following rules'!)
Years of Experience (So You Don't Have to Worry)
I’ve spent the last 9 years owning my creative business in England, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that everyone has a creative spark—sometimes it’s just buried under years of "I can't."
Because I’m a solo creator, when you book an appointment or a workshop, you’re getting my undivided attention. I’m not just handing you a brush and walking away. I’m there to share the "cheat codes" I’ve picked up over a decade:
The stamps that make lettering a breeze.
The stencils that create perfect patterns.
The sponge techniques that make colours pop.
I handle the technical bits—the glazing, the kiln-firing, and the prep—so you can just enjoy the feeling of making something with your own two hands.
It’s About the Moment, Not the Masterpiece
When I’m printing a baby’s "bottom" onto a plate for Little Prints Scotland, or helping a group of friends paint mugs during an evening event, we aren’t aiming for the Louvre. We are aiming for a keepsake or memory that makes you smile every time you open the kitchen cupboard.
The Inglenook is a judgment-free zone. There are no grades here. There is no "right way." There is only your way.
I am so excited to open the doors to your new maker-space!
Whether you are a seasoned maker or someone who hasn't touched a paintbrush in twenty years, I promise to make you feel right at home.
The studio is open by appointment and for bookable events only, ensuring that every person who walks through the door gets the quiet, creative space they deserve.
So, are you ready to resign from the "I’m Not Arty" club? I think it's about time! I’d love to show you what you’re actually capable of!
